How to Play

What is RaceMetrics 7?

A weekly fantasy competition where you pick 7 racing participants and score points based on how their RaceMetrics Ratings change during the week.

Competition Schedule

  • Runs: Tuesday to Sunday each week
  • Entry deadline: 10 mins before first Tuesday race
  • Results: Finalized Monday morning

How to Enter

  1. Choose a participant type from the dropdown
  2. Search and select any 7 participants (any combination of types)
  3. Stay within the 10,500 point budget
  4. Submit before the deadline

Budget & Costs

Each participant costs their current RaceMetrics Rating. Higher-rated participants cost more but may score fewer points (they're expected to do well).

Note: Points used are locked at entry time for budget purposes. Scoring starts fresh when the competition begins - everyone starts at 0 regardless of rating changes between entry and start.

Strategy tip: Mix high and low rated selections to maximize potential gains within budget.

Scoring

Your score = sum of rating changes for all 7 selections during the competition week (Tuesday-Sunday).

  • Start: Everyone begins at 0 when entries close
  • Updates: Scores update after each day's racing results
  • + Selection wins/performs well = rating goes up
  • - Selection loses/performs poorly = rating goes down
  • Non-runners score 0 (no change)

Cross-Contamination Rule

To keep it fair, you cannot select a horse AND any of its connections:

  • Horse + its Trainer
  • Horse + its Sire
  • Horse + its Dam
  • Horse + its Damsire
  • Horse + its Owner

If blocked, remove one of the conflicting selections and choose a different participant.

Prizes

Top 3 finishers win cash prizes:

  • 1st Place: £25 cash prize
  • 2nd Place: £15 cash prize
  • 3rd Place: £10 cash prize

Ties split the prize equally. Prizes paid via bank transfer.

Display Name

Set your display alias in the Badges & Credits tab. This name appears on leaderboards instead of your email.

Stats Centre

Research tools to help you make better picks:

  • Dashboard

    Top movers by rating change. Toggle between "In Form" (rising) and "Out of Form" (falling). Adjust the time period (7-90 days) to spot trends.

  • The Agent

    Shows the optimal 7 picks that would have fit a 10,500 budget last week. Use this as inspiration, but remember past performance doesn't guarantee future results.

  • Compare

    Side-by-side comparison of two participants. Search and select to see their ratings, recent form, and head-to-head stats.

  • Essentials

    Most active participants by runner count. Busier connections = more chances to gain (or lose) points. Helpful for finding selections with upcoming runners.

  • Most Picked

    See which participants other players selected in past competitions. Popular picks may indicate strong form, but could also mean crowded selections.
